Daniel Hager Memorial Scholarship

How will funds raised be spent?

Your invaluable support of this event will provide student scholarships for individuals wishing to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. Through our combined efforts monies raised will continue to fund the Daniel Hager Endowment Fund of the Georgia Tech Foundation, Inc. The fund established through this tournament honors the life of Daniel Hager, BS ME 1997, MS MGT 1999. The scholarship shall be awarded only to entering freshmen students at the Georgia Institute of Technology by the Office of Student Financial Planning and Services on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee of the West Lanier Georgia Tech Club. We consider all applicants without regard to race, religion, gender, disability, or any other legally protected status.



About Daniel Hager

Daniel graduated with honors from Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia and was selected to attend the Congressional Youth Scholar Program in Washington, D.C. He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Georgia Tech and continued his education receiving his Master of Science degree from Georgia Tech School of Management again graduating with honors. Daniel's focus on education and his love for Georgia Tech will live on through this scholarship endowment fund. He is survived by his widow, Maggie, his ten year old son, Drew; his eight year old twin daughters, Caroline and Margaret; his brother, Mark Hager (a Georgia Tech graduate); his three step-brothers, Andy Litzinger (a Georgia Tech graduate), Jeff Litzinger (a UGA graduate) and Dan Litzinger (a SCAD graduate); his mother and step-father, Kaye and Gerry Litzinger and many friends.

Daniel was employed with Nevamar -Decorative Surfaces Division (formerly International Paper) in Hampton, South Carolina as a Senior Mechanical Engineer since his graduation from Georgia Tech. On November 14, 2005 Daniel was on his way to work when he was involved in a fatal automobile accident.
